My Story

Throughout my childhood we moved several times but have always lived in the surrounding areas of Buffalo. I have a large and wonderful extended family that would comment on how great I was with kids. I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher. At five years old I remember playing school with my stuffed animals and my younger brother. I have a great rapport with children and they seem to be put at ease and drawn to my warm personality. I have spent almost 20 years working in education and it has been very rewarding. I have worn many hats from a teacher to administrator, to social worker, but directly working with children is my passion.

What Brings Me Joy

Many things bring me joy, from important moments in my life to being in beautiful places, or enjoying time with loved ones. My daughter brings me more joy than I ever thought possible. Happiness is watching her joy of the world and the experiences she has. Many years ago I found joy in early childhood education. Being part of shaping a tiny human is an amazing and joyous thing. Being part of their development and having the opportunity to see their growth is extraordinary. Teaching brings me joy.

What I'm Good At

I am good at being compassionate and empathetic. I believe I am good at being a mother to my amazing daughter. As an educator, I am great at creating a love of learning. Creating warm and caring learning environments that include social-emotional health. I am great at fostering exploration and play experiences in the classroom. Creating hands-on activities that are fun while focusing on academic skills. I am good at making sure all children feel special. I am good at listening to them and empathizing with their feelings, big or small.

What the World Needs

I think our world would be a better place if we could accept one another, differences and all. I think the world needs to acknowledge how integral schools and teachers are and that we need to do better. Having quality education for all children while embracing diversity.

Why Commons?

My teaching philosophies and Buffalo Commons mission and view on education are very similar. The school has the support of the community, and I truly believe in its success. I think it’s amazing to be part of helping Buffalo Commons grow. They are doing what’s best for children and their development.
